In class students were introduced to basic algebra. We discussed the following vocabulary words that students should be familiar with and be able to identify: variable, constant, coefficient and term.
Below, the homework assignment is listed and I have attached the class notes.
Notes - Algebraic Expressions
HW - Read pgs. 50-51
Complete pgs. 52-53 (1-27)
***Because of the dance concert and other activities, I will give you time in class to complete the homework.***

Quiz - Perimeter and Area
In class students took a quiz on perimeter and area. There is no homework.

Composite Shapes and The Area of a Circle/Quiz Review
In class we reviewed how to fins the perimeter and area of various polygons. Students learned that they only have to remember a few formulas for area because all polygons can be broken up into rectangles (A = lw) and triangles (A = 1/2 bh). Students also learned the formula for circumference (C = 2πr or C = πd) and the formula for the area of a circle (C = πr^2).
The Quiz review is attached and the quiz will be on Friday, April 24th.

Measuring Perimeter and Area
In class students completed a task that required them to measure the perimeter and area of a number of different object using a ruler. The front side of the paper required students to use metric unit (decimals), while the back side required students to measure the objects using customary units (fractions).
For homework finish the assignment which I have attached below.
